7 Awesomely Romantic Fall Date Ideas for Couples!

Ahhh, the smells, the sounds, the pumpkin lattes, apple cider and sweatshirts that depict fall are all here.  Fall, is my oldest daughter’s favorite season, she loves the colors and she loves that she gets to pull out a new wardrobe that consists almost entirely of jeans, leggings and her favorite … sweaters.  It’s also her ideal time to get outside moving, because you can get in a great workout without all the sweating and discomfort of the previous season!

I love change, I love everything about all the seasons, including the one that is just around the corner.  You see, Colorado has a pretty short fall season, and we try to make the most of it, by getting out and doing all the things we’ll put on hold during the winter months.

Fall is a segway into the most romantic months, where cuddles and late mornings under the covers are all but necessary to keep warm.  Fall is the perfect time of year to get outside with your spouse and even your kids…hold hands, laugh, hug, kiss, and bond as a couple or as a family.

Check out these awesome fall activities to get you and your lover outside and on the best dates of your marriage!!  Or at least bring you back to being a kid again!!  🙂

Hike

In my less than humble and well versed opinion there is no better time to go hiking than in the fall.  The air is crisp, the colors are vibrant, and the views are spectacular!!  Hike up a mountain in the afternoon and enjoy a beautiful sunset or switch it up and hike up in the morning to catch the sunrise.  You could even pack a little snack and enjoy a picnic as the sun sets in the distance. Carefree afternoons = rejuventation!

Pumpkin Patch

I don’t know about you, but I LOVE farms and pumpkin patches are no exception.  From mazes to hay rides to picking your own pumpkins, to running around and pushing each other in wagons … life is good on the farm! Afterward, take your pumpkins home and have a little party/contest and get the creative juices flowing.  Roast the seeds and remember they are best with a little sour beer! Creativity/Contest = Stress Free!

Football Game

Dan & I met in college and we loved to tailgate and watch Va Tech … it’s exciting and brings back memories from long ago.  Grab a football and a few beers and have a little fun pregame … tackle is fun as it gets you close!  🙂  We even had fun at our nephew’s football game this weekend.  We snuck some brandy in a flask and had an epic game with our kids and their cousins at half-time!!  Our hearts were racing, our cheeks were flushed and we felt so full of life!  Playing = Youth.

Haunted House

Nothing brings you closer than being terrified.  I mean, you have to huddle close to your man, hide your face in his shirt as he protects you from the monsters.  Plus, I’ve heard being scared releases some sort of chemical which makes you feel much closer to the person you are with.  Works for me after kayaking, I’m so thankful to be alive that Dan gets a lot of affection … either that or I’m so exhilarated and full of life that I just want to be close to him!  🙂

Bonfire

There is never a time that is not perfect for a fire and marshmallows.  Fall nights are very cool, they demand a fire, hot chocolate and marshmallows, and cuddling tight around the fire.  Grab some blankets, hot chocolate, some sticks and some marshmallows, throw in some Sam Smith, John Legend or Pearl Jam and chill under the stars by the light of a fire!

Country Drive

Everyone jumps at the chance to escape the hectic city and what better time to do so than when the leaves are a-changing?  A drive out to the country to where the trees are abundant, the colors breathtaking and the air is clean and fresh.  And don’t forget, in the country you can always find a private place to, you know, park.  🙂  Romance is in the air!

Camping

There is nothing like being adventurous together, as a couple or as a family.  Doing something totally out of the box, like camping in the fall, is crazy, which makes it wild fun.  The crisp cool days are great for hiking, biking or any outdoor activity, while the cool nights are perfect for campfires and spooning in sleeping bags!  Camping in cool or even cold weather is totally underrated!!

Time Together

No matter what you decide to do, spending quality time as a couple and as a family is the most important thing … adding some fun and adventure makes it memorable for everyone  “Remember that time we …” is something we hope to hear a TON as we get older and our kids start to forge their own paths.

  1. My husband and I have been married for 24 years, since we were 18 years old. We take regular dates and try to focus on each other at least twice per week. It’s hard, but if you don’t do it, you lose the spark. I love these ideas and will be treating my dh to a country road trip and a little “parking”. You guys are super cute.
